Game Recap

The Panthers started the second half of the conference games with a comfortable win over Legacy. The Panthers dominated the first half and opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Anthony Kaskie played a through ball to Henry Robledo. Robledo was challenged by the keeper and the ball rebounded to Kaskie who finished into the empty net from just outside the penalty area. The Panthers always looked dangerous and got behind the Legacy defense down the left side on numerous occasions but could not fashion another clear cut chance. Levi Lord in goal made one save tipping a strong drive over the cross bar. The Panthers started the second half in similar fashion but it took 20 minutes to extend the lead. The Panthers had a string of free kicks they didn’t make the best of. Finally a Presten Manthey free kick proved too hot to handle for the Legacy keeper and Bryan Montoya pounced on the rebound to finish confidently. Further Panthers pressure resulted in shots from Robledo, Kaskie, and Manthey all coming close or being saved. The third goal came with 5 minutes remaining when a quick counter attack saw Kaskie running at the heart of the Legacy defense. He committed the last defender and slipped the ball to Manthey who shot accurately left footed into the left corner from outside the penalty area. Lord made 5 saves. This win extended The Panther’s lead at the top of the Northwest League to four points. GO PANTHERS!!
