Game Recap

The Panthers put in a very lackluster performance in the heavy 6-1 defeat away to Cimarron-Memorial. Right from the off The Panthers were second to every ball, lost most challenges, and showed a surprising lack of composure on the ball. Cimarron shot to an early 1-0 lead, which was shortly compounded by a second concession on a move that was clearly offside. The Panthers were continually undone down the left side of defense, where Cimarron found it easy to penetrate. The half-time score of 4-0 did not reflect that total shots on goal, as The Panthers actually outshot Cimarron but couldn’t score. The Panthers only fared a little better in the second half with two Cimarron goals coming again from poor defensive play. The Panthers got a late consolation when the Cimarron keeper could not hold a Nick Frost free-kick which was turned in by the vigilant Tim Stephens. The Panthers still lead the Northwest League by one point and their destiny remains in their hands. Hopefully this defeat will serve as a wake up call that not all opposition are going to roll over easily. GO PANTHERS!!
